Believe it or not, Matthew's first REAL time going from house to house trick-or-treating was this year! Needless to say, he had an absolute blast!
When we first started, he couldn't contain himself; running - no sprinting - from house to house. With every ring of the doorbell, he screamed out "Trick-or-Treat!" in his adorable kiddy-style. Interestingly enough, he absolutely, positively DID NOT CARE whether or not he received candy. In fact, many of the houses had to quickly shove some in his pail before he ran off to the next house. Though he is my son, I must admit this was soooo far from anything I could comprehend! As a kid, I LOVED candy and was greedy with it! Matthew is just the opposite, which makes him super special in my book :)
The funniest memory of the night is Matthew's sudden loss of energy. By the half-way mark in our neighborhood, he simply ran out of gas; barely making it to the doors. With only a few houses left, I eventually had to carry him :) Next year we'll have to give him a lecture on pacing himself :)
