WEEKEND WITH DADDY

I headed to Detroit this past weekend to celebrate my cousin Catherine's bridal shower. So the boys were left home with Daddy all day Saturday and Sunday.

I left early Saturday morning for my 4.5 hour truck up to Detroit. The boys were, of course, up bright and early for Matt :) The day looked like it was going to be pretty nice, so I had high hopes that the three of them would get some good "outside" time together. While I was cooped up in my car listening to my ipod, the boys spent the morning and part of the afternoon playing around the house and running out to Lowe's for mulch.

Once Matthew and Declan were settled down for their afternoon nap, Matt went straight to yard work and managed to get our entire front landscaping done! I was sooo happy to hear that he got that done as its such a pain in the butt :)

What astonished me most of all though was that Matt actually got to take a nap with the boys! Oh how I wish that was ever possible for me, but frankly, I'm never on top of it enough to get the opportunity. Matt made the boys some pasta, played a bit more and headed off to bed Saturday night.

Sunday was a rainy, overcast day, so Matt and the boys stuck close to home and simply played inside. Again, Matt was so on top of things! When I rolled in around 3 pm. not only were the boys sleeping soundly, but the house was clean, the laundry done and dinner all ready for cooking! I'm not gonna lie ... Matt proved to be a better "housewife" than me this past weekend! I was wholly impressed and not at all disappointed that he did a better job than me!

My weekend was great! My cousin did a beautiful job at her shower - she got lots of nice loot (and coincidentally registered for the same crystal pattern as my china: Waterford Lismore). Best of all, I got to catch up with all my extended family AND my nanna and pampa, which meant the world to me. All in all, I'd say the weekend was a great success! Thanks to Matt for all his cooperation and tender loving care.
