Memorial Day: Splash Park

Memorial Day weekend was great! I will say though ... the weather was HOT! So, in lieu of the crowded swimming pools, we opted for our newest discovery: The splash park.


I wish I had pics to post, but between getting the boys geared up in their swimsuits and sunscreen and packing the picnic lunch, I forgot the camera :( I was really kicking myself because Matthew and Declan were the cutest ever!

The splash park is awesome because it has the water area as well as a park all within the same vicinity! That way, I can set up shop in the middle of the two and virtually NEVER have to leave the blanket since I can see Matthew roaming from all angles :) Of course, I say I don't ever have to leave the blanket, but I'll admit the water park is hard to resist. Not to mention that Declan (who is still immobile) needs to have a chance to cool off in the sprinklers.

Declan LOVED the water spouts and played in them with gusto :) His legs and feet were pumping a mile a minute and his hands were all over the place in excitement. He especially loved watching all the other kids running around getting sprayed.

Matt and I really enjoyed this special family time since it was virtually the only opportunity we had all weekend to do so. Matt had his Indy 500 guys weekend and needless to say, he was partying hard Thursday through Sunday! I met him and all the friends at the race on Sunday -- which by the way was upwards of 95 degrees -- and spent about five hours as a chick in the "glory days": drinking beer and acting stupid by wearing mullet wigs. Kim and I are the only girls that still go, so its nice to have some commeraderie :)
