EARLY START

Matt and I had an early start to the morning today. Declan and Matthew have both been under the weather the last couple of days, but we've been especially worried about Declan.

I called the doctor yesterday because Declan was wheezing a bunch. It really didn't sound that great, but we were told that his symptoms are going around like crazy right now. So long as his breathing wasn't compromised, we were told to simply give him lots of liquids and lots of sleep.

Well, this morning around 4a.m. I went to check on Declan and he seemed to be breathing pretty hard. Now, for someone who dealt with RSV last year (with Matthew in the emergency room), I have a heightened awareness (and paranoia) about breathing issues. Last year's stint in the emergency room was enough trauma for me, so after Matt and I analyzed the situation, we decided that his breathing was not sufficient enough for us to wait until our doctors office opening (8:30a.m.).

Well, that was enough for me to bundle our little teddy bear up and truck him over to the emergency room. He had a breathing treament, chest x-ray and RSV swab. Yet, despite all the people poking and prodding him, Declan was such a sweetheart. Not surprisingly, he wore that sweet, flirtatious smile and won the hearts of all the nurses on duty :) I tell you, we are so lucky to have such a doll for a baby! Gosh - I love him so darn much!

Luckily, his x-ray and swab came out normal (Thank God) and the breathing treatment seemed to really help out. They sent us home with a nebulizer, so now we are able to turn to some sort of treament while we're home. I tell you ... this stint of breathing issues with my kids are for the birds!! I simply hope this is as far as it will go this year! Keep you fingers crossed for us!

  1. No surprise he was happy as a clam. He really is the most pleasant baby ever. I mean how could you not fall in love with that little grin. Glad to hear he is doing better!
