It has been 11 days since our precious Declan arrived! Who can believe it? Its true that time really does fly by (even though sleep deprivation is extremely prevalent)!
As far as me, I'm recovering well. It's taking me a bit longer to recover this time around, but as of today, I'm feeling 200 times better!
Matthew is doing SOOO well with Declan. Frankly, his reaction to him is our dream come true :) He loves his brother so much and asks to hold him all the time! He kisses him goodnight with the same farewell each time:
"Good night buddy. See you in the morning."
It makes my heart melt!
Matt is doing great too! He was fortunate enough to get 5 days of paternity leave with his company (soooo great); although, he had to start back at work last Friday, so adapting to late, late nights and early, early mornings is probably going to take him awhile! He's dealing with it beautifully. He never complains about the late nights and is always there to help! He's a fantastic dad :)
My dad left late last week - we were sad to see him go (especially Matthew who stood by the back door and begged Bup Bup to "please, please stay". He helped out so much - and is currently sacrificing weeks of time with his beloved wife! He's sooo generous to allow this not once, but twice (and certainly three and possibly four times if we decide to have more children).
My mom (aka earthly saint) is still here and is running my household. She goes nonstop - cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, gardening, organizing, helping with Matthew and Declan, and being an unbelievable support system to Matt and I - from early in the morning to late at night. She is my saving grace! I think I'm going to have to let her go later this week, which is going to be impossibly hard, but I can't keep her forever. The good news is we'll be seeing her and the entire family throughout the rest of the summer, so hopefully this factor will make it easier to let her go (though I KNOW tears are going to be involved as she leaves).
** We're REALLY excited because Matthew and Declan just got a lifelong pal today! Ruth and Ray (Matt's brother and his wife) had their baby boy today! Liam Robert Lee. He and Declan are only 11 days apart! Its going to be soo great for all of us!
